Meet the Volunteers

Diana Leggett, President
Diana has been an animal advocate since she was a child, and has been doing animal rescue for over 25 years. Drawing on the love she has of nature and animals, she has poured all of her energy into establishing WildRescue, Inc./Rabbit Rescue. Diana runs Wildbuns, a mailing list for cottontail rehabilitators across the US, and has spoken at wildlife conferences and seminars.  She also offers classes on mammal species and emergency care for wildlife, and of course can be seen at area Petcos and other locations doing adopt-a-rabbit monthly events.

Lindsay Hooker, Vice President
Lindsay’s title just means that she is always around, manages the Web site, answers emails, mans the phone lines, does WildRescue’s graphic design, and tries to get WildRescue’s name out as much as possible.  She also rehabilitates wildlife, cares for all incoming and outgoing animals and coordinates many adoptions.  Lindsay has a BFA in Sculpture and is volunteering at the Rescue to gain experience and knowledge (and have fun in the meantime) for a future Master’s degree in Wildlife Biology or a job as a Wildlife Rehabilitator.  Lindsay has no rabbits of her own, but has 3 cats, a planted aquarium, and the occasional fostered wild thing, all of whom she has found one way or another through volunteering with WildRescue.  Lindsay also fosters rabbits that need special medical attention until they are healthy enough to return to the Rescue.

Karen Hill, Adoption Coordinator
Karen has been adopting rabbits from WildRescue for over ten years, after being re-introduced to having rabbits as a pet by a roommate. After being involved in her local community library and Parks and Recs boards, she began to look for animal rescue  volunteer opportunities. Together with her husband she began volunteering with Rogers Wildlife and WildRescue. A few years ago, Karen became WildRescue’s Adoption Coordinator. When not volunteering, Karen spends time with her bunnies Modano and Ginger.

Bridget Bishop, Volunteer Coordinator
Bridget is a true lifelong bunny fan. She grew up in a house with two rabbits and now has one of her own, a Dutch named Cookie. She discovered Wild Rescue while researching rabbit care and adoption online. The first time Bridget visited WildRescue, she had a sick bunny in tow. Diana graciously treated the baby rabbit and Bridget knew she wanted to be a part of the organization. She began volunteering for Wild Rescue in 2009, maintaining bunny environments, feeding the rabbits, learning how to care for injured wild and domestic animals, and recruiting fellow volunteers. Bridget has a B.A. in Communication Studies and began graduate school in Fall 2010.

Whitney Thompson and Lindsey Stevens
Whitney is a Journalism senior at University of North Texas. She’s had a lifelong love of animals, but has only started learning about rabbits in the last year or so. She and Lindsey are the mothers of Neville & Luna. Lindsey has a BA in Art History, with a focus in costume history. Lindsey has grown up with rabbits her whole life, and is enjoying learning more about them. Lindsey & Whitney enjoy helping out around the rescue and learning as much as they can about how to rehabilitate and care for wildlife.

Danae Caporin
Danae discovered WildRescue in early 2010 with a cottontail emergency, and lost her heart to all of the rabbits.  In June 2010 she adopted Jester (now Jasper Cullen)
and Arnold (now Logan Emrys) from us as companions for her beautiful lop boy, Rupert Giles.  She is a stay-at-home mom to her daughter Arckaya and son Striker, and excellent wife to her animal-loving husband Nick.  Danae’s free time at home is spent reading, hiking, painting, making jewelry, and hanging out with her family — all this in addition to the time she spends at the Rescue feeding and watering, transporting rabbits and wildlife, assisting with events, and organizing our monthly cleanup events.
